Holler At This Event...

Cancer-Sucks kicks off Colon Cancer Awareness Month with Soiree in Blue.

Put on your sexiest blue attire and join Event Director Roanne Dela Cruz and Cancer-Sucks at Soiree in Blue. Cancer-Sucks, started by colon cancer fighter Rebecca Babcock, is kicking off Colorectal Cancer Awareness month on March 6, 2009 with a “Soiree in Blue” fundraiser hosted by Stone Lotus Lounge located at 873 N. Orleans from 8pm to 10pm.
Blue is the official color of Colon Cancer Awareness, and the official dress code for the evening is sexy blue. DJ Maker will jumpstart the evening. Cancer advocate Jonny Imerman (of the Imerman Angels Charity) will speak on the importance of Cancer Awareness with a focus on Colorectal Cancer. Attending guests are automatically entered in a raffle for door prizes. The goal for the evening is to spread awareness and to raise $5,000 towards Colorectal Cancer Research and the Cancer-Sucks cause. To help reach this goal, there will be a $25 admission fee for presale tickets, and $30 for tickets at the door. Purchase in advance at www.soireeinblue.eventbrite.com. Proceeds will go towards Colon Cancer Alliance (www.ccalliance.org) and Cancer-Sucks (www.cancersucks.wordpress.com or www.cancer-sucks.com )

While colon cancer is an awkward topic to talk about, it is a deadly reality for a lot of Americans. According to American Cancer Society colon cancer is the third most common cancer. It is estimated there will be over 140,000 new cases of colon cancer and these cases will cause close to 50,000 deaths this year. However, in non-genetic situations, colon cancer is preventable and curable. It is the hope that Soiree in Blue will save at least one of those 50,000 lives.
